Lucy's Favorite Things

My sweet Lucy is in love with strawberry freezer jam! Everyday for lunch at school she has bread with strawberry jam. She also prefers homemade bread. What can I say she is spoiled! We have been making jam together every time strawberries go on sale. She loves being able to cut with a knife and be Mommy's big helper. I think it taste better when you have a hand in making something too.

Lucy has done so well at school this year! She loves going and has made lots of friends. Every Sunday she makes books about Princesses now that she can write. Every day she get two books to read for homework one of the books are the paper ones. So she takes them and adds to them. This is one were she added sentences to the page.

Here Lucy wrote That is a van.
On the next blank page she drew a picture of two princess and wrote "I have a prioss" which is how she spells princess. I love it!
"You have a barre." "Barbie" I just love how they spell when they first learn to write. It is precious.

Day 4 Last One

The last day is always bitter sweet. You are glad to go home, but sad to have to stop playing. We headed back to the Tucson for Saturday. We stopped at two different places before heading home. We went to Collasol Cave. It was really neat inside. In the 1920 during the great Depression the government gave jobs to single man to make the cave have walk ways and lights throughout. They were paid $1 a day and they had to send $.75 back to their families. So they worked for $.25 a day. It was hard work too. It was really nice easy cave for the kids because of all the walk ways. Gracie was even able to go through it. It is a dry cave now. There are very few of them out there. It was interesting because all year long it is always around 70 degrees in there. I guess that is the average temp.

Tyler wore his hat and vest almost the whole trip. I love this kid. He has to dress the part.

Here are the boys in the cave.
I can't remember his name, but the man who owed this for a number years use to give tours of it. They say that if you went on one of his tours you wouldn't know until you started if it was a couple hour tour or couple of days. He always ruin lots of parts of this cave by having people touch the formations. They stop growing once they get oil on them. He would also have them break of parts to take home. There were parts that you could really see the damage they did.

Gracie giving me kissy lips. She had fun going through the cave.
My kids loved to follow right behind the tour guide. They would always hurry ahead of the rest of the group.
After the cave we had a picnic at the same place.
Next we headed to San Xavier Del Bac Mission. Tyler is learning all about AZ History this year so he wanted pictures to take to his class.

These pictures were taken by Tyler. He was having a blast taking them.

My brothers were so excited to be here. You can see it all over their faces.

We hiked the little hill by there church and it has this on the back part of it. Don't know what it is for, but still cool.

Day 3 Tombstone and Bisbee

I think we had the most fun on Friday. It was just my boys Tyler and Hunter with me that day. My girls stayed with Nana and Bumpa. We got to go to Tombstone first.

The boys got to meet some of the actors from the duel at the OK corral.

They enjoyed it more than their cousin Hailie.
This was the boys watching the show at the OK corral.
Here is the end of the show. I felt so bad for the actors in their black trench coats. It was a warm day down there. It was right up my boys alley.

In the afternoon we drove down to Bisbee for the mine tour. This was my favorite thing we did. It was really neat to travel down into a mine and see what it was like for the workers. We all had to wear these larger coats.

Who knows what they are looking at.
Then we were outfitted with helmets and lights. It was a little heavy with it all on.

These are the carts you ride down into the mine. You ride it like a horse. It felt a little weird. If you weren't by the front you don't have anything to hold onto.
Here we are ready to travel down.
I didn't get a picture of it but on the tour they showed all about working down in the mine. They had a cart for potty breaks. They asked does anyone want to sit on it and of course my boys were like ME ME. They run up there and sit on it. Yucky!! At least it was in those huge yellow coats...
Tyler and Hunter were hanging on every word of the tour guide and maybe he felt bad that they sat on the toilets, but on the way out he let Hunter drive us out.

Here he is driving us. Look at the excitement on his face!!! He was in heaven.

On last funny part of the tour. They have a bike that would go on the tracks and the tour guide asked Hunter to go climb up on it and try it out. So he was sitting there while the guide was telling us about the chutes and such when Hunter falls of the bike. It was so funny. I don't know what he did to fall off but we all got a good laugh out of it.

Day 2

We moved on the next day. We headed towards Tombstone AZ. We found this cool RV park. It had nice bathrooms and open spaces. I really liked the old town store front look. After we parked to Trailer we headed to Sierra Vista. I forgot to mention Travis went to Mountain Men so he was not with us. He was sad to miss out on exploring AZ. He loves that sort of thing.

We went on a hike at the Murray Springs. I said their were fossils there, but we didn't see any.

This was their favorite part. They spent at least 20 minutes going back and forth.

We got a bit hot out here.
Lucy was really tired. She doesn't like to be hot.
I did get on picture out of her where she smiled. The rest of the pictures she looks beat.
They kept going back to the unfinished bridge. I should put on in the backyard.

Spring Break Day 1

On Wednesday for spring break the kids and I headed out with my parents, Weston, and two foreign exchange students to southern AZ. Our first stop was Patagonia Lake. It had this really neat bridge across it.

Weston was the gate keeper. He was trying to keep them out which only made them want in all the more.

They had to go up and down this bridge. It is hard to tell, but it is really steep. My poor Gracie was getting a bit scared up there.

It stunk because the camp grounds were packed so we had to sleep in the parking lot. Is was crazy steep so to get in the trailer my Dad improvised with his tool box as a step! We are bit red neck!!!
